about

These songs were written in 2015 during a free period of a few months in New Zealand. I felt reconnected with nature at the time, cut off from world news and social media, I traveled on buses or in random cars, alone or with people I met along the way, dedicated my time to just coming into a place, exploring it and then moving on. And of course, writing these songs on benches in fields, by rivers, or in hostels. To coin a phrase, I was seeing the world with new eyes.

These songs are special to me, different to anything else I've written or will write. I wanted to to keep the songs simple lyrically and musically and I think I achieved that. The main thing is that they have a start, a middle and an end, a chorus and a message, just like the folk songs of old. I'm not sure how they make my audience feel yet, in fact I'm learning more about the songs myself as I play them live.
